Greetings businesspeople, entrepreneurs, students, designers, wanna soon-to-be-filmmakers…
We want to leverage YOUR genius. We recently stumbled onto an amazing online text-to-movie production tool. Pretty cool stuff. You select the characters and the setting, type in the dialog, click on “wrap” and then BOOM, out comes an animated video film that you can share with friends, customers, etc. (There is no doubt that this WILL uncover the next Spielberg and Fellini, born on Jan 20- oh, the kismet).
We thought, “hey, this could be an effective and amusing way to tell the story of our company”. So with a couple of hours of noodling around, we created our first “Director’s cut” of a fictitious story about our very real company, VengaWorks. The setting is an imagined entrepreneur CEO (who may or may not have been inspired by a real VengaWorks employee) talking to the fictitious host of a late night tv show (who may or may not have been inspired by a real friend of ours at Cisco).

So here is the deal. We want you to help us tell the story of “Why VengaWorks?” in film: Take a look at our first cut and then let your creativity run wild. Rewrite the script. Change the setting. Change the characters. Play with the camera angles. Tweak the voices… just make it funny, smart and engaging. And who know’s, perhaps this will be the start of a new career.

Video entries should be no more than 3 minutes in length (yeah, our first cut needs another trip through the editing room). If you find the video site to be too limiting and want to build your own cartoon, a South Park per say (PG please), have at it.
On Jan 20, our very own “Academy” (Oscar winning filmmaker Ben Shedd, VengaWorks Dir of Marketing Randall Ussery, BSU Professor of Entrepreneurship Kent Neupert, Cisco Marketing Manager Kacey Carpenter) will select a winning film and two runners up, which we will then formally post on our site as the “Why VengaWorks?” video, with credit to you. We can’t promise you a red carpet, but we will give the winning filmmaker a 6 month “artistic scholarship” at VengaWorks and a Cisco HD Digital Flip Camera to pursue their craft, or any other business idea they have in mind.
